Shashin yo Sayonara / Bye, Bye Photograph, Dear / Farewell Photography
Shashin Hyoron-sha, Tokyo, 1972; Small Quarto with Dust Jacket; Condition: Very Good; Moriyama's third book, considered one of the most influential books in the history of photography and the pinnacle of the theories and execution of vision by any of the Provoke photographers. Photographs by Daido Moriyama, with additional text (in Japanese) and an interview with the artist by Takuma Nakahira. Cited in Andrew Roth (Ed.), The Book of 101 Books: Seminal Photographic Books of the Twentieth Century and The Open Book , as well as Martin Parr and Gerry Badger, The Photobook: A History , Volume I. A landmark publication and still unnervingly arresting nearly fifty years on. In Very Good condition with some rubbing and foxing to the wrappers. Binding remains strong with minimal creasing to the spine. Small 2cm brown stain to the fore edge. Pages are crisp and bright with just a bit of occasional toning to the edges. A very presentable copy.
