Brigid Polk

Telegraph Books, Philadelphia, 1972 - 12mo, perfect bound in wraps. Brigid "Polk" Berlin was well-known in the sixties New York social scene as Andy Warhol's confidant, and a mainstay of his Factory entourage. She was then rarely without her blank book in which she requested those around her to make ink impressions in the same way that fingerprints are taken of the scars on their bodies. This book is a compilation of these scars along with accompanying explanations of their origin from the likes of sister Richie Berlin, Brice Marden, Bill Berkson, Lillian Roxon, Taylor Mead, Genevieve Waite, Gerard Malanga, John Giorno, Buddy Wirtschafter, Rene Ricard, Dotson Rader, Rita Donagh, Charles Rydell, superstar Viva!, Henry Gibson, Charlotte Moorman, Peter Beard, Helio Oiticica, Patti Smith, and many, many others. Near Fine, with a minor lean to the spine, possibly from the original perfect binding. Interior pages are crisp and unmarked.
