Ripostes of Ezra Pound

The first UK edition of Pound's Ripostes, published a year before the American first edition. Comprised of 25 poems and includes the first printed instance of Pound using the word "Imagiste." Includes Pound's interpretation of the Old English poem, "The Seafarer". Thomas Ernest Hulme provides the preface and five additional poems, one of which, "Autumn", was first published in 1909 and is considered one of the first Imagist poems. Dedicated to William Carlos Williams. Hardcover bound in streaked cloth with gilt titling to upper board, pages untrimmed. Boards lightly rubbed and tanned along the spine and edges, pages lightly toned, with some foxing to endpapers and occasionally to contents. Crown and foot of spine show minor chipping. Pages 59, 61 and 63 show 1cm of loss. Altogether a very presentable copy of this important work of early 20th century poetry.
