New York: n.p., c. 1964; 9 x 11 ½ inches; offset flyer: Early flyer for one of the defining underground films of the 1960s held at the Tivoli Theatre. Upon the third screening at the Tivoli the police raided the theatre, confiscating the print and charging Jonas Mekas, Ken Jacobs and Florence Karpf to be in violation of New York s obscenity laws. A landmark court case ensued, initially lost by the defendants however the ruling was eventually overturned on appeal. A watershed moment for underground film and first amendment rights. A crisp example, edges and corners remain sharp, with only mild toning.
